Battle of Tanga
The Battle of Tanga took place in November 1914 during World War I, in German East Africa (modern-day Tanzania). Allied forces, mainly British and Indian troops, attempted to seize the port of Tanga from the German colonial forces. The Germans, led by Colonel Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck, used clever tactics and knowledge of local terrain to outmaneuver the Allies. The Germans successfully defended Tanga, inflicting heavy losses on the attackers. This battle was notable as a rare victory for the Germans in the African campaign and highlighted the importance of strategy and local knowledge in colonial warfare.
