The Battle of Myeongnyang was a pivotal naval engagement in 1597 during Japan’s invasion of Korea. Under Admiral Yi Sun-sin’s leadership, a small Korean fleet, outnumbered by a much larger Japanese force, took advantage of strong currents and narrow straits to deceive and outmaneuver the enemy. Despite being heavily outnumbered, the Koreans scored a significant victory, sinking many Japanese ships.
