Battle of Mobile Bay

The Battle of Mobile Bay, fought on August 5, 1864, during the American Civil War, was a significant naval engagement. Union forces aimed to block and seize the strategic Confederate port of Mobile, Alabama, to cut off supplies. Led by Admiral David Farragut, the Union fleet navigated through dangerous minefields and fierce Confederate defenses. Despite obstacles, they successfully entered the bay, forcing the Confederates to surrender. The victory helped the Union tighten its blockade, weakening the Confederacy's ability to sustain the war and securing an important access point on Gulf Coast.
