Battle of Kursk

The Battle of Kursk, fought in July and August 1943, was a major World War II confrontation between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union near Kursk in the Soviet Union. It is known for the largest tank battle in history, where both sides assembled thousands of armored vehicles. The Germans launched a surprise attack, but Soviet defenses held strong, inflicting heavy losses. It marked the turning point on the Eastern Front, shifting the momentum in favor of the Soviets.
