Battle of Grenada
The Battle of Grenada, fought in 1983, was a U.S.-led military invasion aimed at overthrowing the Marxist government of Prime Minister Maurice Bishop. After a coup and internal conflict, the U.S., along with Caribbean allies, quickly dispatched troops to restore order and safeguard American citizens and interests. The invasion was swift, completing within days, and resulted in the removal of the existing government. It was controversial internationally but was justified by the U.S. as necessary to counter Soviet and Cuban influence in the Caribbean during the Cold War.
