Battle of Glenshiel

The Battle of Glenshiel, fought in 1719 in Scotland, was a conflict between British royal forces and a coalition of Scottish Jacobites and Spanish troops. The Jacobites aimed to restore the Catholic King James II’s supporters to power, with Spain supporting their efforts. The British forces, loyal to the reigning King George I, successfully defended the area, defeating the invaders. This battle was part of wider efforts to suppress Jacobite uprisings and prevent foreign countries like Spain from influencing Britain's internal affairs, ultimately securing the Protestant succession and the current constitutional monarchy.
