Battle of Dunkeld

The Battle of Dunkeld, fought in 1689 during Scotland’s Jacobite rebellion, was a conflict between government forces and Jacobite supporters wanting to restore King James II. The government troops, led by General Hugh Mackay, attacked a small Jacobite Scottish army. Despite being outnumbered and less organized, the Jacobites tried to defend their position. The battle resulted in a government victory, effectively ending strong Jacobite resistance in Scotland. It marked a significant step in suppressing the uprising and stabilizing the reigning ruling after James II’s ousting.
