Battle of Chittor

The Battle of Chittor, fought in 1303, was a significant conflict in Indian history where the Muslim sultan Alauddin Khilji aimed to conquer the Rajput fortress of Chittor in present-day Rajasthan. Despite fierce resistance from the Rajput defenders and their queen, Rani Padmini, the siege resulted in the fortress falling to Khilji's forces. The battle symbolized the fierce honor and patriotism of the Rajputs but also highlighted the tragic extent of medieval warfare, including mass sacrifices and the eventual loss of Chittor’s independence. It remains a notable example of military strategy and valor in Indian history.
