Battle of Cambrai

The Battle of Cambrai, fought in November-December 1917 during World War I, was a significant conflict marked by the first large-scale use of tanks. British forces aimed to break through German defenses in northern France. The tanks helped to overcome barbed wire and machine-gun obstacles, allowing infantry to advance more effectively. Although initially successful and demonstrating new tactics, the Germans quickly regrouped, and the gains were largely lost. Nonetheless, Cambrai was important for showing the potential of tank warfare and influencing future military strategies.
