Battle of Arnhem

The Battle of Arnhem, fought in September 1944, was a key event during World War II’s Allied efforts to push into Nazi-occupied Netherlands. Allied paratroopers were dropped behind German lines to seize a bridge over the Rhine River, aiming to quickly advance into Germany. However, German defenses were stronger than anticipated, and the operation faced delays. Many soldiers struggled against tough resistance, logistical issues, and limited support. The Allies ultimately failed to capture the bridge, resulting in heavy casualties and a temporary setback. The battle is famous for the bravery of the paratroopers, later dramatized in the book and film "A Bridge Too Far."
