Battery of the Nation

Battery of the Nation is a proposed project to develop large-scale energy storage in British Columbia, Canada, by utilizing hydroelectric facilities. The goal is to store excess electricity generated during periods of low demand or abundant renewable resources, and then release it when needed, helping to stabilize the power grid and support increased renewable energy use. This would enhance energy reliability, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and support the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy system. Essentially, it’s about creating big "batteries" within hydro infrastructure to better balance electricity supply and demand.
