BATNA, or "Best Alternative To a Negotiated Agreement," is the backup plan you have if a deal doesn't work out. It helps you understand your options and determine whether to accept, reject, or negotiate terms more confidently. By knowing your BATNA, you can evaluate whether a proposed agreement is better than your alternative, ensuring you don't agree to something unfavorable.
