Batalla de Ayohuma
The Battle of Ayohuma, fought on November 14, 1813, was a significant conflict during the South American independence movement. Spanish royalist forces led by Brigadier Matías de Irigoyen defeated the patriot army commanded by General José de Sucre. The battle occurred in present-day Bolivia and resulted in a setback for the independence fighters, forcing them to retreat and temporarily lose momentum in their struggle to free South America from Spanish rule. Despite the defeat, the broader movement continued, eventually leading to independence in the region.
