Bastille Prison
The Bastille was a historic fortress and prison in Paris, built in the late 14th century. It became a symbol of royal authority and tyranny, holding political prisoners without fair trial. On July 14, 1789, during the French Revolution, the Bastille wasstormed by revolutionaries seeking weapons and to challenge royal power, marking a turning point in France's fight for freedom. Its fall symbolized the end of absolute monarchy and the rise of the people's sovereignty, and today, July 14 is celebrated as France's National Day, called Bastille Day.
