Basque Cider
Basque cider, or "sidra," is a traditional fermented beverage from the Basque region of Spain and France. Made primarily from apples, it undergoes natural fermentation, resulting in a mildly effervescent, tangy drink with complex fruit flavors. Typically cloudy and unfiltered, it may have a slightly sour taste with subtle sweetness. Cider houses, or "sagardotegi," often serve it fresh from barrels into large glasses, sometimes from a height to aerate. Basque cider holds cultural significance, combining artisanal craftsmanship with a social drinking experience rooted in local traditions.
