Basketball rules

Basketball is played between two teams of five players each. The goal is to score points by shooting the ball into the opposing team’s hoop, which is 10 feet high. Players can move the ball by dribbling (bouncing it while walking or running) or passing to teammates. The game is divided into four quarters, each lasting 12 minutes (NBA) or 10 minutes (FIBA). Defensively, teams try to block shots and steal the ball. The team with the most points at the end wins. Violations like traveling, double dribbling, or holding the ball too long result in turnovers or free throws.
