Basilides
Basilides was a 2nd-century Christian thinker and teacher from Egypt who proposed a unique interpretation of Christian doctrines. He believed the universe was created by a supreme, unknowable God who sent a divine being called the "Sophia" (Wisdom) to help shape the world. Basilides also taught that the material world is imperfect and influenced by a lesser, often mischievous, being called the Demiurge, similar to some Gnostic ideas. His teachings combined Christian beliefs with Gnostic elements, emphasizing spiritual knowledge (gnosis) as the key to salvation and exploring the complex nature of divine and cosmic forces.
