Basic Life Support Guidelines

Basic Life Support (BLS) involves essential skills to keep a person alive during emergencies until professional help arrives. If someone isn’t responding and isn’t breathing normally, call emergency services immediately. Start chest compressions by pressing hard and fast in the center of the chest at a rate of about 100-120 compressions per minute. If trained, provide rescue breaths—cover their mouth with yours and give breathes until they resume breathing or help arrives. Use an automated external defibrillator (AED) if available, turning it on and following its prompts. BLS helps maintain circulation and oxygen flow, increasing the chances of survival.
