Barzakh

Barzakh is an Islamic concept referring to a barrier or liminal state between this life and the afterlife. It is the period after death when the soul resides in an intermediate realm until the Day of Judgment. In this state, the soul experiences a preview of its future, reflecting its deeds in life—reward or punishment. Barzakh ensures a separation between the living world and the spiritual realities awaiting the soul's final fate. It is not eternal but a transitional phase, serving as a pause before the soul’s ultimate destination.
