Barringer Meteorite Crater
The Barringer Meteorite Crater, also known as Meteor Crater, is a well-preserved impact site in Arizona formed about 50,000 years ago when a nickel-iron asteroid roughly 50 meters across collided with the Earth. The collision released immense energy, creating a crater about 1.2 kilometers (3,900 feet) in diameter and 170 meters (560 feet) deep. The impact caused immediate shockwaves and ejected material around the rim. Today, the crater is a popular geological site and provides valuable insights into impact processes and Earth's history of extraterrestrial collisions.
