Barringer Crater

Barringer Crater, also known as Meteor Crater, is a well-preserved impact site located in Arizona. It formed about 50,000 years ago when a 50-meter-wide iron-rich meteorite struck the Earth at high speed, creating a crater around 1.2 kilometers (approximately 0.75 miles) in diameter and about 170 meters (560 feet) deep. The impact released immense energy, excavating the crater and dispersing debris. Today, it serves as a scientific site for studying impact processes and provides insight into Earth's geological history and the frequency of meteorite impacts.
