Barons' War in Hungary
Barons’ War in Hungary (1277–1278) was a rebellion by powerful noble families upset with King Ladislaus IV’s weak rule and royal policies. The barons sought to gain more autonomy and influence, opposing royal authority and internal conflicts. The war involved military clashes across the country, ultimately leading to a temporary power shift in favor of the barons. After the conflict, some efforts were made to restore royal power, but the war highlighted the ongoing struggle between central authority and noble independence in medieval Hungary.
