Composed mainly of ancient Precambrian granite, it rises about 1,820 feet above sea level and offers striking views of the Mississippi River. The bluff is named after the barn-shaped appearance of its upper cliffs and is a popular spot for hiking, rock climbing, and enjoying scenic vistas. Its rugged terrain and natural beauty make it an important geological and recreational feature in the region.
