Barkas (automobile manufacturer)
Barkas was an East German automobile manufacturer, best known for producing the B1000 van and other commercial vehicles from the late 1950s through the 1990s. Established in 1961, Barkas focused on practical, durable vehicles primarily used for transportation and delivery purposes within Eastern Europe. Their vehicles featured simple, utilitarian design and were favored for their reliability. After Germany's reunification, Barkas struggled to compete with Western automakers and eventually ceased production in the early 2000s. Today, Barkas remains a nostalgic brand, appreciated by collectors and vintage vehicle enthusiasts.
