Barium Ion

A barium ion is a charged particle formed when a barium atom, which is a metal, loses two electrons. This results in a barium ion with a positive charge, called Ba²⁺. Barium ions are often used in scientific and medical procedures, such as in imaging tests of the gastrointestinal tract where a barium sulfate solution helps create clear X-ray images. In chemistry, understanding barium ions helps explain how barium interacts with other substances, especially in formulating materials or studying chemical reactions.
