Bardoli Satyagraha

The Bardoli Satyagraha was a nonviolent protest in 1928-29 in Gujarat, India, led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Farmers faced heavy land revenue demands from the British colonial government, which they found unjust. In response, villagers organized a mass movement of civil disobedience, refusing to pay the taxes. The protest gained momentum, and the government responded with repression and property seizing. However, through persistent peaceful resistance, the farmers eventually secured a reduction in their taxes and gained greater political leverage. The movement bolstered Indian independence efforts and established Patel as a key leader.
