Barbara Strozzi

Barbara Strozzi (1619–1677) was an Italian Baroque composer and singer, notable for her prolific output of vocal music during a time when most women had limited opportunities in the arts. Despite societal constraints, she published numerous collections of arias and songs that showcased her skill in expressing emotion and musical complexity. Strozzi’s work is valued for its originality, expressive depth, and technical sophistication, making her one of the few women recognized for her significant contribution to 17th-century music.
