Barbados Programme of Action
The Barbados Programme of Action (BPOA) is a global agreement adopted in 1994 focused on sustainable development in Small Island Developing States (SIDS). It recognizes their unique vulnerabilities, such as climate change, natural disasters, limited resources, and economic challenges. The BPOA encourages international cooperation to strengthen environmental management, improve disaster resilience, promote economic diversification, and address social issues. Its goal is to help small islands develop sustainably, balancing environmental protection with economic growth, and ensuring better quality of life for their populations.
