
Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay
Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay (1838-1894) was a prominent Bengali writer, poet, and journalist in India, best known for his novel "Anandamath," which significantly influenced the national movement against British rule. He is often regarded as one of the first modern Indian novelists. Chattopadhyay is also famous for composing the song "Vande Mataram," which became an anthem of the Indian independence struggle.
