Bam Citadel

The Bam Citadel is an ancient fortress located in Bam, Iran, built mainly from mud bricks. Originally constructed around the 5th century AD, it served as a military stronghold and a thriving urban center. Its massive walls and towers provided defense and protection for inhabitants. Over centuries, it withstood various invasions and earthquakes, showcasing impressive traditional Persian architecture. Sadly, a major earthquake in 2003 caused significant damage. Today, the Bam Citadel is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, symbolizing Iran’s rich history, cultural resilience, and engineering ingenuity.
