Balkans conflicts

The Balkans conflicts were a series of ethnic and political struggles in Southeastern Europe, mainly during the 1990s, following the breakup of Yugoslavia. Different ethnic groups, such as Serbs, Croats, Bosniaks, and others, sought independence or control, leading to violent clashes, ethnic cleansing, and wars. These conflicts were fueled by historical tensions, nationalism, and uneven economic development, causing significant human suffering and international intervention. The conflicts highlighted the fragile nature of ethnic coexistence and the challenges of transitioning to stable, multi-ethnic governance in the region.
