Balance problems

Balance problems occur when your body's systems that help maintain stability and coordinate movement aren't working properly. These systems include the inner ear (which senses position and motion), the eyes (which provide visual cues), and the nervous system (which processes these signals). When any of these components malfunction—due to injury, illness, aging, or neurological issues—it can cause dizziness, unsteady walking, or a feeling of being off balance. Managing balance problems involves addressing the underlying cause and may include physical therapy, medication, or environmental adjustments to improve safety and stability.
