Baiga community

The Baiga community is an indigenous tribal group primarily found in central India, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. They have a rich cultural heritage, with their own language, traditions, and practices linked to nature and forest life. Traditionally, Baigas are slash-and-burn farmers, relying on forest resources for sustenance. They often live in remote forest areas and maintain a close relationship with the environment. The community has faced challenges related to modernization, land rights, and access to education, but they continue to preserve many of their cultural practices and customs.
