Baekje (ancient kingdom)
Baekje was one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea (18 BCE – 660 CE), located in the southwestern part of the peninsula. It was a powerful and culturally rich kingdom known for its advanced arts, architecture, and early adoption of Buddhism. Baekje fostered trade and diplomacy with China and Japan, influencing regional culture and technology. The kingdom played a crucial role in spreading Chinese writing, Buddhism, and artistic styles to neighboring countries. In 660, Baekje was conquered by the allied forces of Silla and Tang China, ending its independent rule but leaving a lasting legacy in Korean history and culture.
