Bacterial conjunctivitis

Bacterial conjunctivitis is an infection of the thin, clear layer covering the white part of the eye and inside of the eyelids, caused by bacteria. It leads to redness, swelling, and usually a sticky yellow or green discharge from the eye. It can spread easily through hand contact or contaminated objects. Symptoms often include irritation, tearing, and crusting around the eyelids. It is typically treatable with antibiotic eye drops or ointments, and most people recover quickly with proper care. Good hygiene helps prevent spreading the infection to others.
