Baboon (not a macaque but commonly confused)

A baboon is a large, hardy primate with a dog-like snout, long face, and prominent rump, native to Africa and parts of the Arabian Peninsula. Unlike macaques, which are smaller and often have more varied habitats, baboons are terrestrial and highly social, living in large, organized groups called troops. They are highly adaptable, feeding on fruits, seeds, insects, and small animals. Baboons are known for their strength, intelligence, and complex social behaviors, including grooming and communication through gestures and vocalizations. They are an important part of their ecosystems but can sometimes come into conflict with humans due to their boldness.
