B-cell Immunodeficiency
B-cell immunodeficiency is a condition where the immune system’s B cells, which produce antibodies to fight infections, do not work properly. Without enough functional B cells, the body struggles to make sufficient antibodies, leaving individuals more vulnerable to bacterial and viral infections. This can be due to genetic factors or acquired causes. Symptoms often include frequent or severe infections, especially of the respiratory and ear regions. Treatment may involve regular antibody injections (immunoglobulin therapy) to help boost the immune response and prevent infections, allowing the person to better fight off illnesses.
