Aztec Warfare
Aztec warfare was a central aspect of their society, driven by the need for tribute, land, and captives for religious sacrifices. The Aztecs, skilled in warfare, used a combination of strategy, alliances, and intimidation against rival city-states. Their warriors utilized weapons like wooden swords, spears, and atlatls (throwing sticks) and often fought in organized formations. Battles were not only about conquest but also about capturing enemies to offer to the gods. Victories in war enhanced social status, and those who proved themselves were celebrated as heroes in this highly stratified society.
