Nnamdi Azikiwe, widely known as "Zik," was a prominent Nigerian politician and statesman born in 1904. He played a key role in Nigeria's independence from British rule, advocating for self-governance and unity among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups. Azikiwe founded the nationalist newspaper, the West African Pilot, to promote African rights. He served as Nigeria’s first President from 1963 to 1966, after Nigeria became a republic. Known for his leadership, advocacy for education, and efforts to promote national identity, Azikiwe remains a celebrated figure in Nigeria’s history of independence. He passed away in 1996.
