Axis & Sagittal plane
The sagittal plane is an imaginary vertical plane that divides the body into left and right halves. Movements along this plane include forward and backward motions, such as walking or doing a biceps curl. The axis associated with sagittal movements is called the lateral (or transverse) axis, running horizontally from side to side, perpendicular to the sagittal plane. Together, the sagittal plane and its axis help describe and understand how the body moves forward and backward, facilitating activities like walking, running, and bending.
