Avicennian philosophy
Avicennian philosophy, based on the work of Ibn Sina (Avicenna), combines Islamic theology with Aristotelian logic and science. It emphasizes that knowledge begins with experience, but understanding spiritual truths requires reason and intellectual insight. Avicenna believed in a hierarchy of existence, with God as the ultimate being, and the soul as immortal, capable of attaining knowledge of divine truths through intellectual effort. His philosophy seeks harmony between faith and reason, emphasizing that spiritual truths can be approached through rational inquiry, and that the human capacity for understanding can lead to union with the divine.
