Autonomic dysregulation
Autonomic dysregulation occurs when the autonomic nervous system, which controls automatic functions like heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and temperature regulation, malfunctions or becomes unbalanced. This can lead to symptoms such as dizziness, rapid or irregular heartbeat, sweating, or trouble maintaining blood pressure. It often happens in conditions like dysautonomia, where the body's ability to regulate these functions is impaired. Essentially, it disrupts the body's automatic processes, causing unpredictable or inappropriate responses to normal situations, and can significantly impact daily activities and overall well-being.
