Autoimmune Blistering Diseases
Autoimmune blistering diseases are conditions where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own skin or mucous membranes, causing blister formation. Normally, the immune system protects us from infections, but in these diseases, it creates antibodies that target proteins responsible for holding skin layers together. This leads to fluid-filled blisters that can appear on the skin or inside the mouth, eyes, or other areas. Examples include pemphigus and pemphigoid. These conditions require medical diagnosis and treatment to reduce immune activity and promote healing.
