Autoimmune adrenalitis

Autoimmune adrenalitis is a condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the adrenal glands, which are small organs on top of the kidneys that produce hormones vital for energy, stress response, and salt balance. This immune attack gradually damages the glands, leading to decreased hormone production, especially cortisol and aldosterone. As a result, symptoms like fatigue, weakness, weight loss, low blood pressure, and salt cravings can develop. It’s a chronic condition requiring medical management, often with hormone replacement therapy, to compensate for the hormones the adrenal glands can no longer produce adequately.
