Autoclaves
An autoclave is a device used to sterilize equipment and materials by exposing them to high-pressure saturated steam at temperatures typically around 121°C (250°F) for a specified time. This process effectively kills bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores, ensuring that items are safe for medical, laboratory, or industrial use. Autoclaves are essential for maintaining hygiene and preventing infection in hospitals, clinics, and other settings where sterile conditions are crucial. They operate with a chamber where items are placed, sealed, and then subjected to the rapid, intense steam and pressure that eliminates microbes without damaging most materials.
