Autism and Asperger's Syndrome
Autism is a developmental condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts, and experiences the world. It encompasses a range of challenges and strengths, often referred to as the autism spectrum. Asperger's Syndrome, previously considered a distinct diagnosis, is now recognized as part of this spectrum. Individuals with Asperger's often have average or above-average intelligence and may struggle with social interactions and nonverbal cues, but they may excel in focused interests. Both conditions highlight the diversity of human experience and emphasize the need for understanding and support tailored to individual needs.
