author metrics

Author metrics are tools used to evaluate a researcher’s impact and influence within their scientific community. Common metrics include citation counts (how often their work is referenced), h-index (a balance of productivity and citation impact), and publication counts. These measures help assess the quality and reach of an author's research, guiding decisions in hiring, funding, and collaboration. While useful, they don’t capture the full scope of a researcher’s contributions and should be considered alongside other qualitative factors.
