Austrian schilling
The Austrian schilling was the official currency of Austria from 1925 until 2002, when it was replaced by the euro. It was divided into 100 smaller units called groschen. The schilling helped stabilize Austria’s economy after periods of inflation and was known for its relatively stable value. Throughout its existence, the currency featured important national symbols and figures on banknotes and coins. The transition to the euro aimed to facilitate easier trade and travel within the Eurozone. Overall, the schilling played a key role in Austria’s economic history during the 20th century.
