Australian Women's National League
The Australian Women's National League (AWNL), founded in 1904, was Australia’s first major women's political organization. It aimed to promote women’s involvement in conservative politics, support issues like family and national defense, and advocate for women’s rights within traditional roles. The AWNL sought to influence public policy and foster patriotic participation among women, aligning with broader conservative and nationalist movements of the time. Although it declined by the mid-20th century, it played a significant role in early women's political engagement and laid groundwork for future advocacy groups.
