Australian Referendums

Australian referendums are national votes that allow citizens to directly approve or reject proposed changes to the country's Constitution. For a change to be adopted, it must pass a double majority: a majority of voters nationwide and a majority in at least four of the six states. This process ensures broad support for constitutional amendments. Referendums are relatively rare, occurring only when significant reforms are proposed, and require careful public debate and understanding of the implications before voting.
